To Superman friends one and all,

50 Years! It's hard to believe that it's been more than half a century since George Reeves first donned the Superman suit and cap and changed both the course of his career and television history.

While George fully deserved incredible stardom, Superman was probably not his idea of it. Nonetheless, his performance permanently won our hearts over in a way other roles never would have.

George Reeves embodied the character, the strength, the personality and the conflicts that defined Superman. The lasting nature of "The Adventures of Superman" is testament to his acting ability and his desire to turn every moment on screen into a credible, memorable performance.

Of course, George was supported by a wonderful team. Noel Neill, Jack Larson, John Hamilton, Robert Shayne, and Phyllis Coates all added to the success of the series in so many numerous ways. Likewise, Whitney Ellsworth's creative care behind the scenes gave "The Adventures of Superman" more than most other shows of the 1950s.

And so, the work lives on today, because it is great and magical and worthy of lasting.

My website is designed to share the research I gathered while writing Superman: Serial to Cereal. So many of you have told me that the book rekindled in you the excitement you first experienced watching "The Adventures of Superman." That thought fills me with happiness every time it's expressed. I thank you for that sentiment and all the emails and letters.

So now it's time for my present in honor of the anniversary ... a half century since "Superman and the Mole Men" and the first television episodes were filmed. I've reduced the price of the book to $29.95. The copies are in mint condition and I hope that this will help put the book into the hands of more people who loved the series.

Finally, congratulations to Armand Vaquer and for encouraging the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to declare Superman Week in Los Angeles in honor of the 50th Anniversary. What an achievement!

More changes in the website coming soon ... but for now, happy anniversary!
